Implementation of R&D works results, inven-tions and utility models by SME operating on the market for more than 24 months. Project title: Implementation of an innovative technology to protect the surface of large wooden models from dimensional changes, deformation and intensive wear by applying multilayer coatings created using CNC machines. The direct objective of the project is to increase sales of products (moulding patterns) associ-ated with the MTM Models brand. The scope of the project includes the implementation of an innovative technology to protect the surface of large wooden models (from dimensional changes, deformation and intensive wear) by applying multilayer coatings created using CNC machines. The implemented tech-nology will allow for the automation of the application of putty on the surface of the wooden model with the use of CNC machine and its finishing directly on the milling station. In the new technology, all activities related to the first and main stage of model surface pro-tection will be fully automated, using numerically controlled machines equipped with innova-tive instrumentation. This will shorten the whole technological process from 6 to 3 operations and the time of application of modeling putty and its finishing on a surface of 1m2 from 10 to 6 hours. In terms of product innovation, the technology will increase the model life by 20% and im-prove the product with the following parameters: – increased dimensional stability, – improved surface protection against mechanical damage during model forming and removal from the mold, – resistance to atmospheric factors, humidity from the air (less swelling and deformation of models in humid conditions), – better protection against the impact of technological factors, smaller deformation of models caused by one-sided moistening of liquid components of moulding compounds (resins, water glass, esters, acids, etc.), – increased resistance to the erosive effects of sand formations. Project value: PLN 6,513,465.00, eligible costs PLN 5,295,500.00 EU subsidy: PLN 2,647,750.00 Project duration: 01 June 2018 – 30 May 2020
MTM Modele Sp z o.o. implements a project co-financed by the EU under the Smart Growth Operational Programme, Measure 2.3 Pro-innovation services for enterprises, Sub-measure 2.3.2 Innovation vouchers for SMEs, call no. POIR.02.03.02-IP.03-00-001/17. Project title: Development of an innovative technology to protect the surface of large wooden models from dimensional changes, deformation and intensive wear by applying multilayer coatings created using CNC machines. The project objective is the development of an innovative technology to protect the surface of large wooden models – from dimensional changes, deformation and intensive wear – by ap-plying multilayer coatings created using CNC machines. The subject matter of the project is the purchase of research services realized by Faculty of Foundry Engineering of AGH University of Science and Technology in Kr related to the de-velopment of an innovative technology of surface protection of large wooden casting models with the use of multilayer coatings created with the use of CNC machines. The scope of re-search includes 5 tasks: development of a new technology of protective coating application on wooden models with the use of CNC machines (including the creation of a prototype coating application unit), selection, based on laboratory tests, of technological parameters of the putty (viscosity, density, temperature, flow tests) in order to adapt it to the mechanized method of application, and 3 test studies: comparison of models protected by the traditional way and the developed method, and the way the models protected by the new technology behave in con-tact with atmospheric and technological factors (testing phase). The research is aimed at creat-ing a process and product innovation ready to be implemented in a production system. In the scope of process innovation, the development of a technology allowing for automated applica-tion of putty on the surface of a wooden model using a CNC machine and its finishing direct-ly at the milling station, without taking the model off the machine, is assumed. Currently, manual methods are used both in the area of the putty layer application and in the subsequent grinding. This should contribute to shortening the entire technological process from 6 to 3 op-erations and the time for applying modeling putty and finishing it on a surface of 1m2 from 10 to 6 h. In terms of product innovation procedures, the research will allow to create a product with much better technical parameters: increased dimensional stability, better protection against mechanical damage and increased resistance to deformation resulting from the impact of atmospheric and technological factors prevailing in the foundry.
